EL ES DE Completes short-lead fabrication of 'Subsea Top Drive' tool for WELL-OPS

Fabrication of a Subsea Top Drive (SSTD) was completed at short notice in August 2008. The SSTD is a unique piece of equipment designed by WELL-OPS, which negates the need for an oil-rig to drive some well intervention tooling.

EL ES DE Engineers contributed to the manufacturability of the design. EL ES DE performed all fabrication works and managed subcontracting including extensive machining, NDT and finishing operations.

The entire manufacturing process took approximately four weeks, EL ES DE staff worked around the clock to ensure the delivery deadline was met. The SSTD performed flawlessly several times during WELL-OPS’ first campaign with the tool in late 2008.
